I am fortunate. My children and family are healthy. Yet everyday my heart aches for those who are dealing with a family member that has a Congenital Heart Defect (CHD). I am a follower of CarePages. (CarePages is an online community of millions of people coming together to share the challenges, hopes and triumphs of anyone facing a life-changing health event.) I have seen many children earn their angel wings because they were born with a CHD. Before I started following CarePages, I could not have told you what HLHS, Hemi-Fontan, Fontan, ECMO, Norwood or a variety of other “heart” related words meant. But the heart families that I have read about, prayed for, grown close to, these words are part of their everyday vocabulary. We need to get word out and raise awareness for these children and their families. Bring awareness so that more help is brought to the families of these children who were born with these issues.
