Our Letters of Hope

Letters of Hope for Broken Hearts is a letter writing campaign Jen Huegel and Stefenie Jacks are starting. Sundie Guttovz, Shannon Carter, Tina LeMire and Jessica Twigg are also helping with the letter writing campaign. Together we are all planning on raising awareness with letters to various media outlets in an effort to bring awareness to Congenital Heart Defects. We need to do whatever we can to get ANYONE’s attention. Media awareness is very important for CHD’s since there isn’t any. We will also be including a copy of the CHD Awareness video to send and any other video or info that we can think of to make a big statement.

This is what we need from you as heart families (parents, grandparents, siblings, friends), adult CHD survivor’s, care givers (nurses, doctors, etc.) involved in the CHD world and most importantly YOU, our readers and community supporters. We need to hear your voice too!

Writing your letter – include a photo of your child (makes a bigger statement) and tell your story. Pour your heart out and hold nothing back.

- Write about how CHD has impacted your life, changed your family and impacted your other children, your experience with the wonderful care givers for your child (our hospital family) and be sure to share the uplifting stories.

- Tell why CHD Awareness, funding and research is so important.

- Friends, community and family members – we want to hear your stories too. How knowing a CHD child has changed your life.

I know it is going to be a huge effort but we all want the same thing.......HOPE for our kids and the future generation of CHD children. We want awareness, increased funding, and someday a CURE!

There is one very important thing this whole journey has taught me......that there is always HOPE. If we believe we can make a difference we can and we will succeed. It might not happen on our first try but we REFUSE to give up.

That is why we want all of you to be involved in this. The only cost is a postage stamp to mail me your letter. Only 42 cents to help make a difference.....just some spare change, right? We all have at least that.

So, PLEASE pour your hearts out and send your letter of HOPE!

Take the time....write a letter....tell your story.....and make a difference for the kids, the families and those out there just like us fighting for our voices to be heard!

All letters need to be postmarked by July 1st.
